Detailed Case Study
Overview
CompilerX is a custom-language compiler project that replaces traditional C keywords with more user-friendly alternatives. It parses and evaluates variable declarations, assignments, arithmetic expressions, conditional statements, loops, and output statements.
Engineering approach
- Flex handles lexical analysis and tokenization.
- Bison processes tokens against the custom grammar.
- A symbol table stores and updates variable values during execution.
- The language supports arithmetic and relational operators, if/else blocks, while loops, and for loops.
Why it matters
This project demonstrates lower-level computer-science practice beyond application development: how source text is tokenized, parsed, and evaluated by a compiler pipeline.
