Dhakaiya Bites POS
An offline-first point-of-sale and menu management system built for local restaurant operators facing intermittent internet connectivity.

What was broken or missing
Small food operations frequently lose sales visibility, customer queue momentum, and billing clarity when cloud-dependent systems freeze during peak service connectivity drops.
Solo Engineering & Delivery
Solo Full-Stack Engineer — architected local-first sync state, modeled relational orders/items in PostgreSQL, built responsive touchscreen POS UI, and deployed with zero third-party bloat.
Technologies & Architecture
Core Capabilities & Outcomes
Local-first order queue
Cashiers process tickets without latency or network blocking during peak hours.
Bidirectional cloud synchronization
Transactions sync quietly with Supabase as soon as network packets resume.
Fast category and modifier navigator
Touch-friendly menu categories reduce order entry time at the counter.
Obstacles & Solutions
Challenge #1
Preventing duplicate orders during intermittent internet reconnection cycles.
How I solved it
Implemented idempotent client-generated UUID ticket tokens with optimistic local confirmation.
Challenge #2
Touch-target precision and speed on budget Android tablets.
How I solved it
Eliminated layout reflows, simplified DOM hierarchy, and tuned active touch states for fast tapping.

Detailed Case Study
Overview
Dhakaiya Bites POS is an offline-first restaurant operations platform designed for practical day-to-day use. It brings order entry, tables, discounts, split payments, receipts, inventory, production costing, staff management, bazar requisitions, and reporting into one workflow.
Problem
Restaurant work should not stop when connectivity becomes unstable. The system stores work locally first and later synchronizes changes to the cloud when connectivity returns.
Engineering approach
- React and TypeScript for the product interface.
- Dexie and IndexedDB for local-first data handling.
- Supabase for authentication, cloud synchronization, role-based access, and reporting.
- Background sync queues, service-worker support, and protected routes for operational resilience.
- Excel, PDF, and CSV exports for payment and reporting workflows.
Key capabilities
The application includes POS ordering, menu management, stock entries, recipe costing, profit snapshots, staff salary tracking, purchase tracking, daily and monthly dashboards, and super-admin controls for user invitations and reporting.
